Lilly is taking a step back in its search for the best Viagra.
The Food and Drug Administration has granted the request for approval to sell a drug that contains the drug Addyi, the first drug approved to treat an Addison disease, but the agency's new guidance will be based on the evidence of scientific evidence that supports its approval. The drug, which will be marketed under the name Viagra, is the first to be approved for the treatment of Addison.
"The Food and Drug Administration has granted the request for approval of this drug," said Amy Schreiner, Ph. D., who is vice president for marketing and development at Lilly's division of pharmaceuticals. "Addyi is a revolutionary drug that has changed the lives of millions of men worldwide and has improved quality of life for millions of women suffering from Addison."
Addyi was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998 for the treatment of Addison. It was the first drug to be approved to treat Addison in women.
The drug will be sold under the name of Addyi and will be available by prescription only.
Lilly's marketing chief said the drug will only be available in the U. S. if approved by the FDA, as approved by the FDA, in a year or so. However, the drug is still not ready to go on sale in the U. for sale under the name of Addyi.
